The cathedral means that St Davids, in Pembrokeshire, Wales, is the smallest city in the UK by population and urban area and first gained it's 'city' status in the 12th century. This was revoked in 1886 but restored in 1994 at the request of Queen Elizabeth II. It is the resting place of St David, the patron saint of Wales
