The canvas is hand-stretched over a 38mm deep made-to-measure knotless pine stretcher bar frame guaranteed not to warp or bow, milled with a curved profile to minimise contact with the face of the canvas and prevent unsightly impression marks and surface cracking.

Carved detail on the Monastery of Batalha (Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory), Portugal, erected in commemoration of the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota it took over a century to build, starting in 1386 and ending circa 1517, spanning the reign of seven kings. It is one of the bestexamples of Late Flamboyant Gothic architecture in Portugal.
